| Broccoli, Pac Man Broccoli is a hardy vegetable of the cabbage family that is high in vitamins A and D. Transplant young, vigorously growing plants in early spring or late summer. Use starter fertilizer for transplants and side-dress with nitrogen fertilizer when the plants are half grown. Provide ample soil moisture, especially as the heads develop. Cut the central head with 5 to 6 inches of stem, after the head is fully developed, but before it begins to loosen and separate and the individual flowers start to open (show bright yellow). Removing the central head stimulates the side shoots to develop for later pickings. |

| Celery, tall Utah Full sun required. Celery is a heavy feeder and grows best in soil rich in organic matter with a pH of 6.5. Before planting add plenty of compost and rotted manure. Celery has a shallow root system. To conserve moisture and cut back on weeds, mulch around the plants and water during dry spells. 100 days. |

| Lettuce, Iceberg white center. Leaves are reddish brown on edges. 70 days. Full Sun in spring/fall, partial shade in summer. Rich, well drained soil. |


| Leeks, Broad London Likes rich, well drained soil and full sun. Thick, sturdy stalks with pearly white bulbs. Popular standard main season variety. 130 days. |
| Lettuce, Butter Crunch This butterhead type of lettuce is prized for its heavy, compact heads, super flavor, and heat resistance. The center leaves blanch to a light color with a buttery texture and rich flavor. Outer leaves are crisp and juicy. A good choice for production in early summer, ideal for containers. Repeat at 2-week intervals until late spring. Sow again in late summer and fall. Fertilize when plant is 3" tall. Keep out of direct sun in summer. |


| Lettuce, Mesclun Type Salad greens harvested young mixed for salads. Spicy mix includes arugula, Cicoria, Endive, red and green lettuce. Full Sun in spring/fall, partial shade in summer. Keep soil moist, but not soggy. Harvest when lettuce plants are 3-4" tall. Simply cut off the leaves above the soil. |
